Brandon Bower is a passion driven visionary with a heart to see the lost and hurting come to know the healing power of Jesus Christ through salvation. His faith in Christ has radically changed his life, and his desire for others to know his Savior is evident through his passion for Christ-centered discipleship and gospel-centered teaching.
Brandon is the founder of The Lighthouse: A Biblical Life Recovery Center, a ministry focused on helping the hurting and broken come to know Christ as Savior, as well as re-establish life in the community through Christ-centered discipleship, transitional housing for men, one-on–one mentorship, and biblically based teaching presented through various avenues: Life Skills groups, community training, mentorship, etc.
Having run from God as a young adult, Brandon is no stranger to the hurting and broken. Growing up in Chicago as a pastor’s kid, Brandon found himself living two very different lives—one being the “good” pastor’s kid and the other being a young, rebellious teenager running far from God. It was in that time of running that God brought Brandon back to Himself, saving him from his sin of believing lies and living in rebellion.
Through law-enforced counseling, God continued to work in Brandon’s heart, giving him a deep passion and sensitivity toward reaching those who have and are experiencing similar difficulties. Knowing that true freedom can only be found through Christ and Christ alone, Brandon has set out on a mission to seek out the hurting and broken and share the hope of Christ with them.
Pursuing his education, Brandon received his Doctor of Theology degree as well as a Masters in Biblical Counseling. In addition Brandon holds a state license as a Licensed Clinical Addictions Counselor. In 2017 Brandon became a licensed minister, extending his efforts to reach more hurting people through preaching God’s Word.
In his years of addiction work, Brandon began to see a fundamental piece of the recovery process that was missing. The 3—6 month programs offered in our community were a start but not the final step to helping an addict fully recover. There needed to be a second phase to the process, a longer-term process of helping the addict regain his/her footing in the community while at the same time keeping Christ as a focus in recovery.
With big vision, the ministry of The Lighthouse began with a single house that could hold 8 men, offering its services to the community through transitional living for men. Soon after, the mentorship program began, pairing men in the program with godly men who come alongside, offering accountability, biblical teaching, and friendship, as well as offering mentorship and counseling to the families of the men residing in the home. In the years since, the ministry has expanded, now offering two transitional living homes for men, with the capacity to reach up to 32 men and their families at any given time. In addition to serving these men, The Lighthouse has expanded its services to the community by opening a Community Center offering a Food Bank, Counseling, and Community groups such as Life Skills training—a community wide group where men and women can come and receive free food and biblical teaching on various life skills needed in everyday life; as well as a manhood study offered to men in the community, equipping men to live godly lives. Chapel services are held every Friday night for the community as well. In addition, community training events have been offered, bringing prevention, awareness and education to those trapped in the addiction crisis and equipping others with knowledge and teaching from a biblical viewpoint. The Family Thrift Store offers opportunities for employment as well as free clothing vouchers to the community.
Brandon continues to share the gospel with countless individuals through one-on-one relationships, discipleship, community outreach, church teaching, group meetings, television, radio, and multiple social media platforms.
Each of these ministries has the same goal and purpose: to see God’s healing power and salvation rise up in the hearts of those Brandon and The Lighthouse serve through the love of Jesus Christ.
As Jesus challenged His disciples to go into all the world, Brandon has not only served here in the USA, he has traveled abroad extensively with his latest efforts focused on South Africa—teaching, advising, and ministering to the hurt and broken and planting seeds of hope abroad.
Brandon is blessed to be living out this mission with his wife, Elizabeth, and their three beautiful children. Their family is united in sharing the love of Christ and striving to shine His light in all that they do. They currently reside near Fort Wayne, Indiana.
Brandon wants you to know that no matter how hurt or broken your life is, by placing your faith in Christ, radical transformation will happen and true, lasting hope is found! This is evident in his life passage found in Romans 8, which tells us that nothing can separate us from God’s love.
